Wolverhampton to Aberdovey in 6 Hours!
Published on the 16th June 2015

On Friday 12th June 2015, Andy Everall, a member of the broking staff at IHN, and his good friend David Coyle, the husband of another member of our staff, both took part in a bike ride organised by Wolverhampton Police.

The annual ride first took place about 20 years ago with only a few police officers taking part to raise money for local charities.  As the years have passed, the event has grown and is now open to anyone who wishes to join in.  This year saw around 600 riders complete the journey and raise in excess of ┬ú100,000 for local charities.

The riders set off from Wolverhampton Football Stadium and pedalled their way through valleys and lanes, all the way to Aberdovey, on the Welsh coast, a distance of 110 miles.  Some riders chose a longer route which took them through the mountains of Snowdonia and added 20 miles on to the journey.  Andy and David opted, on this occasion, for the shorter route but it still involved 6 hours in the saddle!

This year’s charities were: Let us Play, Clapa, Kidney Research, A Child of Mine, Action Heart, Birmingham Children’s Hospital, Compton Hospice, John Taylor Hospice, Katharine House Hospice and Toby’s Fund.  The money raised is split equally between all of these wonderful causes.

Very well done to Andy, David and all the riders!
