When is a Bike not a Bike?!
Published on the 11th July 2017

Whilst electric bikes can be lots of fun, when it comes to the insurance of Electrically Assisted Pedal Cycles (EAPCs) things can start to get complicated.

If you own an EAPC, do not assume that your household policy will grant you automatic cover if any of the following are true:

  • It weighs more than 40kg
  • The maximum output of the motor is more than 200 watts
  • The maximum speed exceeds 15.5 miles per hour

For further help and advice, please call Karen Cartwright on 01384 375555.
