Macmillan Coffee Morning

IHN enjoyed another successful Bake Off competition in support of Macmillan this year.

Many members of IHN staff went to great lengths to become Star Baker at the 2nd IHN Bake off in aid of the Macmillan charity last Friday.

Having introduced the Bake Off competition last year, with great success, the contest continued with more entries and even more tempting goodies on offer this year.  The edible delights ranged from chocolate and cherry cup cakes to banana loaf and secret bakers emerged from behind their spatulas from all corners of the office and beyond.

Our guest judge, Margie Mason, is a star baker herself and, after much testing and tasting, she awarded the prizes to the top 3 bakers.  The winner was Vivien Taylor, the partner of our newest member of staff, David Howe, with her delicious carrot and walnut cake; second place went to our very own Mary Berry, Debbie Grove; and third place went to our only male baker, Daniel O'Brien, who was competing for the first time and managed to squeeze into third with his zesty lemon meringue pie.

Over £200 was raised which will be match funded by the Company bringing the total raised to a steaming £427.20

Congratulations to the winners and a big thank you to all who took part, both bakers and tasters alike.  

Get those pinnies on and start practising for next year!
