Design an Ad Competition
Published on the 8th July 2014

The imagination of a child is a thing of wonder, as a group of local youngsters proved by providing the perfect advert for artistic talent.

Along with 36 other organisations, IHN recently took part in the Express & Star’s annual Design an Ad Competition.

Earlier this year, youngsters from primary schools across the region were challenged to design an advert.37 schools took part and they were asked to come up with a ground-breaking ad for the sponsor with which they had been paired.

The children completed the work either as a classroom project or as a homework assignment and each sponsor chose their own individual winner.  The winning adverts were then published in the paper with an overall winner being chosen by readers and announced at the awards ceremony on 3rd July at Wolverhampton Race Course’s Holiday Inn Hotel.

2 members of IHN attended the ceremony where our own winner, 9 year old Jacob White, pictured above, received his framed advert; £50 for his school, Ashwood Primary School, Stourbridge; a book token; a certificate; and free tickets for the forthcoming family fun day at the race course.

The overall winner, who received a cash prize of £500 for her school, was Megan Williams from Perry Hall Primary School, Wolverhampton.  Megan came up with a unique interpretation for the Scooby-Doo Show soon to be seen at Wolverhampton's Grand Theatre.

We would like to say a big thank you to all the entrants and especially to our winner, Jacob.
